Yosemite

I had no internet access for two entire days!!! My mom, my sister, and I went camping in Yosemite (where it is snowing, by the way) in a tent-cabin with a couple of my sister’s friends from school and their dad. A tent-cabin is just a wooden frame with a canvas tent thing over it. No heating at all. It was so cold. My pajamas for the night were two pairs of pants, two shirts, a sweatshirt (with the hood up all night), and two pairs of socks; my bed was a sleeping bag all zipped up under five blankets, and I was still cold. It was better than being out in the snow though, where it was even colder. The snow was mostly ice there and it covered the paths so we had to watch our step very carefully. I slipped and fell on my butt several times. I have lots of bruises now.
We stayed at Camp Curry, a camp site in the lower part of Yosemite where it snows the most. We had a nice view of Half Dome and El Capitan. If you turned the other way from those two you could see Whole Dome (I don’t know what it’s really called, but that’s what I can it).
Dad couldn’t come because he had work (on Martin Luther King Day!! Can you believe it??) so we left him with his sister in Stockton, two hours from San Francisco and three hours from Yosemite.
On Monday (Martin Luther King Day) we went cross-country skiing at Badger Pass. It’s a little higher up but there’s still a LOT of snow. It was the first time cross-country skiing since I was about eight or nine, but then it was mostly just standing around on skis rather than actually skiing. I fell down a lot. I was going down hill on my skis and I tried to stop by “snow-plowing,” which is putting your knees together so the skis form a V, but I tripped and fell. I got up again and when I was near the bottom of the hill I raised my arms in victory but I lost my balance and fell again, kind of twisting my knee a little. It was okay though.
There was this big valley of powdery snow on which we took off our skis and had a snowball fight. Everyone teamed up on me and I got snow down my shirt. It was very cold.
But we survived and I think I improved a little. We left Yosemite at 4:30 and got to Stockton at 7:30. We had dinner and left. We got home at about 11. It was very fun. My mom wants my dad to get me a pair of cross-country skis so we could go skiing again next weekend (which is Lunar New Year).
