Extra Credit Report

Dr. E, my language arts and social studies teacher, has just started giving us book report assignments. Our first book report (that we’re working on right now) is on a book about a little Chinese-American girl for which her mother has high expectations. Book reports are really fun (for me) and I love to do them, but I REALLY got interested when he said, “You can turn one that was not assigned in to me any time you want, and I’ll give you extra credit.”
The ones he had out were all for fiction books, and since I was reading The Amber Room by Catherine Scott Clark and Adrian Levy, a non-fiction book about the Amber Room, I asked about the non-fiction ones. He said he didn’t have one at the moment, but today he gave it to me! I was working on it during passing period (because I have two periods in a row in his class) and one of my friends, Leanea, “visited” me at my desk and asked what I was doing. I said, “Doing a book report for extra credit.” And she said, “Why? You don’t NEED extra credit.”
I can’t wait! I’m hoping to get my first A+ on a report card. I’ve only seen ONE person get an A+. All I’ve gotten in the past were A’s. Maybe if I do a lot, like one a week, I’ll get another A+++ on the next interim!
